FAQ
Most frequently asked questions about using the Urinap™ Baby Urine Collection Pack.
Is the Urine Collection Pack safe and comfortable for my baby?
Yes, the Urine Collection Pack is designed to be non-invasive and gentle, ensuring a safe and comfortable experience for your baby.
How many time I can use a single urine collection pad?
Each urine collection pad is designed for single use to ensure hygiene and accuracy.
Can the Urinap™ Baby Urine Collection Pack be used for both boys and girls?
Yes, the Urinap™ Baby Urine Collection Pack is suitable for both boys and girls.
Are there any special storage requirements for the Urine Collection Pack before use?
No, there are no special storage requirements. Just keep it in a dry place, away from sunlight, and at room temperature.
How long is a urine sample good for?
A urine sample is typically good for about 1-2 hours at room temperature. For best results, it should be analyzed within this timeframe to ensure accurate results. If immediate testing isn't possible, refrigeration (2-8°C) can extend the sample's viability to up to 24 hours.
How long can you keep a urine sample in the fridge?
When properly refrigerated at 2-8°C (36-46°F), a urine sample can be stored for up to 24 hours. However, for the most accurate results, it's best to have the sample analyzed as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 hours of collection.
When is the best time to take a urine sample?
The best time to collect a urine sample is typically first thing in the morning. This 'first void' urine is more concentrated and thus more likely to show any potential abnormalities. However, if collecting from an infant using the Urinap system, you can collect the sample at any time when the baby urinates.
How much urine do you need for a UTI sample?
For most standard urinalysis and UTI tests, a sample of about 10-30 ml (2-6 teaspoons) of urine is sufficient. The Urinap collection system is designed to collect an adequate amount for testing, taking the guesswork out of the process.
Is pee sterile?
Contrary to popular belief, urine is not sterile. While urine in the bladder of healthy individuals contains very few bacteria, it can pick up bacteria as it exits the body. This is why proper collection techniques, like those used in the Urinap system, are crucial for obtaining clean samples for accurate test results and minimizing the risk of picking up bacteria.
How does Urinap differ from the Mocuś kit?
Urinap and Mocuś are both infant urine collection kits, but they differ in several key aspects:
- Sterility: Urinap is a fully sterile medical device, ensuring the highest level of hygiene and sample purity. Each component in the Urinap kit is individually sterilized and sealed. In contrast, while Mocuś is designed for medical use, it doesn't explicitly claim full sterility for all components.
- Kit contents: Urinap includes additional sterile elements such as gloves and a protective film, which are not present in the Mocuś kit. These extra components help maintain the sterile environment during sample collection.
Is Urinap easier to use than Mocuś?
Both products, Urinap and Mocuś, are designed for easy use, but Urinap may offer several conveniences:
- Additional elements in the Urinap kit (gloves, protective film) make it easier to maintain hygiene during the process.
- The specially designed Urinap insert may be easier to place and more comfortable for the child than the cotton insert in Mocuś.
Why should I choose Urinap instead of Mocuś?
- Increased hygiene due to additional kit elements that are not present in Mocuś.
- Universal design suitable for both genders, similar to Mocuś, but potentially with greater comfort for the child.
Is Urinap available in pharmacies, like Mocuś?
Yes, Urinap, like Mocuś, is available in many pharmacies throughout Poland. However, Urinap also offers a convenient online purchase option directly from the manufacturer, which may be more convenient than searching for Mocuś in local pharmacies.
How should I store a urine sample collected with Urinap or Mocuś?
Regardless of whether you use Urinap or Mocuś, the rules for storing a urine sample are similar:
- It's best to deliver the sample to the laboratory as soon as possible after collection.
- If immediate delivery is not possible, the sample can be stored in a refrigerator (2-8°C) for up to 24 hours.
- Urinap offers a sterile urine container that may better protect the sample from contamination than the container provided in the Mocuś kit. Always follow the laboratory or doctor's recommendations regarding sample storage and transport.
